Renowned as a painter of the ocean, Andreja Soleil brings her evocative artistry to the international art scene. Based in Leipzig (Germany) and Mallorca (Spain) Soleil has garnered recognition for her profound exploration of the sea. Her current series delves into the theme ‘Ocean – Currents / Sounds / Murmurs / Colours,’ a subject she has passionately pursued since 2018.
Drawing inspiration from the Baltic Sea and Mallorca, Soleil’s works capture the essence of these diverse coastal environments. Through recurrent visits to the Baltic Sea and extended stays on the Baleraric Islands, she immerses herself in the ever-changing light and dynamics of the sea. Soleil’s artistic journey is a profound exploration of the sea’s multifaceted beauty. Employing acrylic paint, ink, sand, and dried sea salt, she delicately layers thin veils of color to create minimalist yet expressive pieces. Her artworks serve as love letters to the maritime landscapes, inviting viewers to contemplate the ocean’s moods, silence, and strength.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Soleil is deeply committed to environmental conservation. Her works serve as silent protests against the pollution and noise threatening marine life, particularly her advocacy for the protection of dolphins near Cabrera Island, Mallorca. In her art, Andreja Soleil reminds us of our interconnectedness with nature.
