Life and Career

Shobhana Tyroller, born in Belgium in 1947, has lived a life of remarkable diversity and adventure, reflected vividly in her eclectic artistic journey. From her early years, Tyroller displayed a natural talent for drawing and painting, establishing her own atelier at just 14 years old, where she found joy in creating precise animal portraits.

However, Tyroller’s artistic path diverged and evolved over the years, mirroring the extraordinary experiences she encountered in her extensive travels and diverse living situations. With a staggering 46 moves and residency in six countries, her life has been a whirlwind of contrasts, encompassing experiences ranging from meditation retreats in India to touring with a rock band.

Work and Exhibitions

Through it all, Tyroller’s artistic spirit remained resilient and adaptive. She transitioned from traditional patchworks to a more dynamic, freeform style inspired by the captivating designs of Gee’s Bend. Watercolors became a cherished medium for capturing the fluidity and vibrancy of her surroundings, while acrylic painting offered boundless possibilities for creative expression.

Despite her nomadic lifestyle, Tyroller’s work has found a home in numerous galleries across Europe, with exhibitions in Luxembourg, Paris, Brussels, Mannheim, Wiesbaden, Mallorca, and beyond. While she may find self-promotion challenging, her dedication to her art remains unwavering, driven by a lifelong passion for creative exploration and expression. Tyroller’s biography serves as a testament to the enduring power of art to transcend boundaries and reflect the richness of human experience.
